Large-scale report conducted for the European Commission on the transposition of Directive 2005/56/EC in all EU and EEA Member States. The purpose of the study, among others, was to identify the advantages and difficulties associated with the Directive, and propose solutions on how to further increase its effectiveness.
The study involved data collection from 30 national registries, private databases, local newsletters and gazettes and professional literature. It also involved analysing interviews and surveys by over 100 stakeholders.

The study reviews how different Member States, including DE, BE, LU, UK, FR as well as CH as a reference point, have transposed certain provisions of the underlying Directive. The study involves theoretical research as well as qualitative methods, including interviews with regulators and financial institution representatives.
