Financial Education in Schools with the Active Participation of Banking Institutions: A Comparative Study, August 2017

The purpose of the study is to examine the involvement of the banking system in financial education in western democracies. The study was conducted by examining the involvement of banks and their employees in formulating the contents of financial education activities, as well as engaging in teaching at schools. The countries in which the study was conducted were Italy, England, Germany, Spain and France.

The study reviewed the involvement of the banking system in financial education of the community members. For example, banks and financial institutions formulate the study contents, instruct teachers, and prepare lesson plans and reference materials. Moreover, the study examined the support of the government authorities in the idea of banks’ involvement in financial education, for example, by making the subject of financial education compulsory.
