The study reviews the CFPB authority, its main function, its mandate and its activities. In particular, the Authority’s activity with respect to the banks is examined. Moreover, the study provides a brief overview of the British Authority (Financial Conduct Authority, FCA).
The study examined the activities of the CFPB in the three stages of regulation: designing the regulation, supervising its implementation and enforcing activities. The study examines who are the financial institutions the CFPB supervises; the relationship between the CFPB and other supervisory organizations, and its administrative structure. Lastly, the study highlights the criticism on the CFPB’s activities and different proposals for reform.
